<h1>CNC Plasma Cutter Plotter</h1> https://tinkersprojects.com/ Images are somewhat subpar, apologies for that. I've wanted a plasma cutter for some time now. Rather than buying one, I decided to build my own. The 2D plotter machine didn't take long to make and has been sitting around for about a year while I was getting all the other parts required for cutting. Getting the plasma cutting head/nozzle wasn't an issue, but I had many problems with the right hoses. After acquiring the correct components and making some modifications to them, the cutter started working properly. The next challenge was finding a suitable controller for the machine. I wanted to push myself further and build the controller from scratch, including both hardware and software. Since the plasma machine generates lots of electrical noise, the controller would constantly restart whenever the plasma was turned on. To resolve this issue, I placed the controller in a metal box and stopped communication over USB (using G-code on an SD card), which fixed the problem and allowed me to test the cuts. The frame is constructed from linear rails and powered by two NEMA17 motors in a CoreXY configuration. The controller uses PLEX with an Arduino bootloader.
