Full mechanical design of hobby level CNC machine designed for a school project. Key features:
- Overall dimensions roughly 2ft x 2ft x 2ft. Designed to fit on a table
- Suitable for machining soft materials such as aluminum, wood or plastics.
- Linear motion powered by lead screws and stepper motors through belt drives for increased resolution. Final linear resolution is 0.05"/motor rotation or 0.0025"/step (assuming full step operation)
- Aluminum 8020 base with certain custom machined plates and mounts. The plates and mounts were not the focus of the project hence less effort was made in finding alternatives
