I've long been captivated by the idea of astonishing my nieces, nephews, and in-laws with robot-created Easter Eggs from an EggBot-style device. Opportunity struck when I adopted a nearly lifeless Mendle-style cartesian 3D printer, which gave me the chance to build one of these semi-spheroid plotting devices from scratch. Upon examining the charred printer board, I thought to myself that electrical fires are no fun at all, and so I stripped it for parts. After studying EBs for a while to gather an understanding of what's needed and what features are handy or useful for adjusting the mechanics of the drawing operation, I set out to design one completely from scratch. I did this for many reasons: -Firstly, because I couldn't find any existing designs on Thingiverse with all of the features I personally wanted -Secondly, my collection of parts was somewhat non-standard -Most importantly, I wanted to and it seemed like a fun challenge to reinvent a wheel If you have some of the same raw parts, I encourage you to use this design, make it your own, and have fun printing/plotting.
