CNC Carcassonne Tiles

This basic set of 72 Carcassonne tiles is perfectly suited for CNC milling. Files are named according to the labeling system shown in the picture above (taken from https://www.fgbradleys.com/rules/rules2/Carcassonne-rules.pdf). The model pictured was milled with Eastern Maple, finished with a simple shellac finish. Edges measure 2 inches (50.8mm), slightly larger than standard 45mm cardboard tiles. Roads are 1/4 inch wide to allow for slot and contour toolpaths using a 1/4 inch flat end mill. All objects - houses, walls, shields, etc. - are spaced at least 1/8 inch apart to enable adaptive clearing in these areas with an 1/8 inch flat end mill. Edge bevels on houses, walls, turrets, and shields are 45 degrees for easy edge selection with parallel passes. A 1/8 inch tapered bit works well for finishing edges and using "spiral morph" toolpaths for the terrain. Components of each piece are separate shells within each file, making it simple to remove terrain or other features in a program such as Meshmixer. Edges can be left intact, but adding magnets adds convenience and style. The "Hole Jig Carcassonne" accepts drill guide bushings like this: https://www.leevalley.com/en-ca/shop/hardware/jig-and-fixture-parts/40089-drill-guide-bushings. Use a 1/8 inch bit to drill out holes for 3mm cylinder magnets. The pieces shown contain 3mm x 1.5mm cylinder magnets. Be sure to alternate polarity of magnets on each face, and use the same pattern on every face of every tile to ensure they fit together perfectly. The files could certainly be used for 3D printing, but I recommend searching Thingiverse a bit more to find designs that are better suited for this process! A file for the scoreboard can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4429636 Pictures also show a storage box that makes it easier to randomize tiles for play.
