Speed Change Carrage System By Chris Sole I created this adapter because I bought a 55mm spindle with an ER16 collet adapter, but I have so many ER11 collets that I also need to use on the original motor/Spindle. To change over the bearing carriage, you'll need to modify the metal brackets that come with the 500 Watt spindle. This new part allows you to use either the 52mm dia or 55mm metal brackets. You can also use the provided 6mm Hex Bolts that come with your new Spindle as they are 6mm Dia and 70mm long. When installing the original Spindle, four plastic bushes need to be made and used, one for each bolt. These bushes must be placed on the Hex bolt before entering the bolt into the holder. The reason I designed it this way is that if you strip or damage a thread in the back carriage in the future, you can tap a new thread again and remove the bush for the bolt to go in further. This also prevents the Hex head from damaging the hole, and if the Bush breaks, you can simply make a new one. All settings are shown in the pictures provided. I printed using Matter Control on an Anet A8 at 0.03 resolution. All prints were done without supports or adhesion. Note: In the main part of the spindle holder, there is a thin gap when printed, which is normal and acts as an anti-vibration component. The holes for the bearings will be very tight due to different types of bearings. I used the bearings that came with my machine, but you may need to file out the holes to fit your bearings and brass lead screw. It took me about 10 minutes to file out the holes. I would not recommend using a drill as it could ruin the part, but scaling up the model by 1% might help. You can try scaling up the model or filing out the holes carefully to ensure a proper fit for your bearings and brass lead screw.
