X-axis stabilizer: A Must-Have for CNC Machines with Linear Rod Bearings Issues If your linear rod bearings are subpar on your CNC 1610, 2418, 3018, or 4018, don't worry! I've got a solution that's sure to save the day. My X/Z axis stabilizer is specifically designed for machines with 3D printed X/Z axis parts. Here's how to assemble it: First, drill out the holes for the rods using a 10mm drill on your new parts. Next, place one of the new parts on one side of the X/Z axis head and insert the rods through them. Pre-drill all fixing screws with a 2mm drill. Use three 15mm wood screws to secure everything in place - simply screw one through the hole to mark where you need to drill. If the rod binds in the hole, don't panic! Just drill it again with the 10mm drill and give it a little wiggle. Once you've got both sides mounted, make any necessary adjustments using the 10mm drill.
