CMZ SPORT - a purchase decision you won't regret. The creation of an alternative to the C3A motorcycle began in 1958 with models like C4A, NAMI-031, NAMI-048, NAMI-059, and NAMI-060. However, the Serpukhov plant's technological backwardness hindered construction until 1964 when upgrading production equipment became a reality. The initial plan was to create an easy, versatile off-road vehicle with a pickup-style body based on the Zaporizhzhya ZAZ-965 front-mounted engine. Designers from the Wheeled Vehicles Sector of the Special Art and Design Bureau under Eric Szabo and Eduard Molchanov designed an appearance for this utility vehicle, considering manufacturing limitations. Though a rural SUV project was later abandoned, design achievements were used in the future motorcycle developed with NAMI specialists' participation. Production preparation began in 1967, marking a shift from open frame-panel bodies to all-metal carriers, improving comfort and production scale. S3D production started in July 1970, ending in fall 1997, with 223,051 motorcycles produced.
