The Sarcophagus of Psamtik-Seneb (CMA 71.2254) (Harrison 2007) was discovered by Henri Gaulthier in 1931 at Heliopolis after he excavated it. The Sarcophagus itself had been ravaged, with its basin still intact but the cover shattered into numerous pieces. Both are lavishly decorated and inscribed with mortuary texts. The piece ultimately entered the art market and was restored on at least two occasions following excavation1. It was purchased by Walter P. Chrysler at auction in 1971 and subsequently donated to the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk, VA. For more information on Psamtik-seneb and his Sarcophagus, see our webpage, here: https://3dcoffins.berkeley.edu/coffins/chrysler-museum-art-712254 The model and images used to build it are courtesy of the Chrysler Museum of Art, where Psamtik-seneb's Sarcophagus remains today.
