Clynmalira is a thriving Methodist congregation based in Baltimore County, Maryland. In 1845, a historic church rose on adjacent land generously donated by John Putnam Pearce. This parcel once formed part of a vast tract bestowed upon Charles Carroll by Lord Baltimore and was christened Clynmalira after Charles' ancestral home in Ireland. When Henry Carroll pledged $100 to aid the construction of this church, he insisted that it bear the name Clynmalira, derived from clanmalier, which translates as fresh air. Today, the church situated at the intersection of Stockton and Old York Roads in Phoenix presents a vastly different appearance from its 167-year-old predecessor.
