A 3D printable purse design for desktop printers is available on the web, inspired by Zomboe's chainmail creations. The designer aimed to create an attractive and functional accessory that could hold an iPhone, without glue, using a reprap or makerbot-style printer. However, they encountered several challenges in the process. The design took over 24 hours to slice with RepG, necessitating a faster slicer or simpler geometry. Adhesion issues made it difficult to keep the print attached to the platform, and there were five holes in the final product. The designer also struggled to find an effective way to connect the sides of the purse. A chain or wristlet loop would be needed for functionality, while a more attractive clasp could improve appearance. A no-glue-snap-together approach limited design options, and a beefier hinge is recommended. Despite these issues, the fabric's shiny appearance pleased the designer, who believes that with improved design elements, they would wear the purse. Instructions for printing are provided, but users are encouraged to test a swatch first. The file has been corrected to include the clasp.
