Clutch
grabcad
The modern clutch boasts four primary components: the cover plate, which integrates a diaphragm spring; the pressure plate; the driven plate; and the release bearing. The cover plate is secured to the flywheel via bolts, while the pressure plate applies force to the driven plate through either the diaphragm spring or coil springs on earlier models. The driven plate rides on a splined shaft situated between the pressure plate and flywheel. Each side of the driven plate features friction material that securely grips the pressure plate and flywheel when fully engaged, allowing for smooth take-up of the drive when the clutch pedal is partially pressed.
