A vast settlement with diverse occupations, it was the largest village in the Arctic during its peak 400 BCE-100 CE, housing an estimated 1,000 people. The site also boasts earlier occupations dated 2,200-1,700 BCE, 1,000-600 BCE, and 900-1,100 CE. Western Alaska Peninsula's archaeological treasures are a result of extensive research conducted under grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner is the principal investigator behind this groundbreaking project. High-resolution scans were taken with either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i scanner. The data was processed using Geomagic or Polyworks software, incorporating 2-8 photos for texture in Geomagic Wrap. Initial digitization work was carried out at the Idaho State University's IVL lab. Further processing and publication were completed at Global Digital Heritage.
