Closing Tool Capabilities

The Automatic Closing Tool is designed to close the cover onto either plastic or steel pails. The Closting Tool is normally placed down stream from the filling station. Afterthe pail is filled, a pail cover is placed on top of the pail. The pail is conveyed down stream onto the powered roller conveyor of the Closing Tool. They conveyor carries the pail underneath the Closing Tool Head. A limit switch senses the pail below the Closing Tool Head. An additional set of stops are actuated, along with the closing station stops to hold back any pails entering the machine during the crimping process.With the pail stops energized, a timer is started to make sure the pail reaches the stops and is centered for the closing operation. After the time delay the Closing Tool Head lowers to contact the pail and lid for closing. The conveyor at this time lowers slightly so that the pail to be closed comes in contact from below with a stationary table that meets te resulting press force during the closing operation. A pressure switch senses when the Closing Tool Head has completed its stroke down for closing. This signal is used to de-energize the closing to cylinder, retracting the Closing Tool Head. While the Head is retracting, the conveyor is also raising back up to lift the pail off the table. An additional pressure switch senses when the Head has retracted. This signal retracts the stop pins that release the closed pail and allows a new pail to enter the cosing area for closing.
