Updated April 10, 2019: Paper Towel Holder parts have been updated. 1) Inner-Hub Extensions have been added to keep rolls from slipping off outer hubs sometimes. 2) Inner-Hubs can also be used in the middle of rolls for better support of cardboard tubing, though not necessary, it doesn't hurt either. 3) Both Hub models (Inner & Outer) now feature a spoked design. 4) 5/16" threads are all Class 1B now for a looser fit, easier install, just tighten pieces against each other to secure. Updated July 17, 2018: A 5/16 HubNut and PaperTowelNut have been added along with a link to the Quick Change Universal Spool holder by Foreverwinter. Simple Hanging Filament Holder uses a printed extender or adapter for the very inexpensive ClosetMaid Clothes Bracket. The ClosetMaid bracket alone doesn't have enough clearance to mount a spool. The extender should provide ample clearance for any 1kg spool. You can just use a simple 3/4" rod to hold your spool, or you can use the following . Note: The Quick Change Universal Spool Holder by Foreverwinter can be found at the link below. It's a genius design, easy to use and has three bolt lengths available along with his F360 file so you can tweak as desired. He uses two 608 bearings in the giant bolt on the 5/16" threaded rod, so there's no filament drag or back pressure. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1241566 Important Note: See the Wing Nut & Washers; I had to add an adjustable friction mechanism to my setup because filament was just rolling off the spool if there was any excess droop heading towards the printer. Note: I used one flanged 608 bearing for the friction washer to push against, instead of metal on plastic. Added the 5/16" threaded rod ends and paper towel ends; they complete the whole thing. Just print two for each end, tighten against each other, they just sit in the ClosetMaid bracket as shown, gravity does the rest. PaperTowel Holder: Print 2x bracket extender, 2x 5/16" end nut, 2x paper towel hub, and hub extensions if your paper towel roll slips off the hubs alone. See images; it's very straight forward. If you want some internal center support, just print a 3rd extension-hub for the middle of the 5/16" threaded rod. PARTS: 2x ClosetMaid Bracket Part # - SuperSlide 5629 Closet Rod Support 1x 5/16 -18 threaded rod 12" length. 1x LockNut 5/16 (with nylon insert) for opposite end of 5/16" rod, see images. 1x WingNut 5/16" 1x Spring; just has to fit over the threaded rod and between your washers. 2x Washer; I'm using 3/8" x 1" since all the 5/16" fender washers I found were 1-1/4" and it was then hard to easily remove the orange spool-holder-nut when changing filament. 2x 608 Bearing (insert into ends of Quick Change Spool Bolt, see Foreverwinter link) Optional: use 1x Flanged 608 bearing for friction mechanism to prevent metal on plastic friction.
