This magnificent surviving feature of the Priory is the west doorway which boasts an inscription that proudly declares:\nMathew by the Grace of God, Bishop of Clonfert, and Patrick O'Naughton, canon of this house, directed its creation in 1471.\nThe doorway is beautifully decorated with intricate carvings of vine leaves, angels, and the majestic figures of St. Michael the Archangel, St. John the Baptist, St. Catherine, and a Bishop are powerfully represented. On either side of the doorway, you'll find striking carvings of a pelican, mermaid, deer, and a dog, all skillfully crafted by the skilled artisans of that era.
