Clone of Park Tools DP-2 dummy pedal

WARNING This design falls far short of being optimal and will probably break if printed. I'm leaving it here as a relic, but strongly recommend checking out my new design: Redesign of dummy pedal. I recently created a replacement head - thing:3107119 for the Park Tool DP-2 dummy pedal tool. This tool acts in place of a pedal on a bike that doesn't have pedals installed. This often happens with higher end bikes so customers can choose their own pedals. I took a closer look at the rest of the tool and thought, "I could replicate this entire thing." I originally designed it based around an M6 nut and 686 bearings, but realized it was too complicated. It's always a pain to have to source hardware if you don't already have it on hand, so I decided to try replicating the entire tool with only printed parts. For an extra challenge, I made it compatible with the replacement head I designed, which means I was limited to the 5/16" 18tpi thread that Park uses on the DP-2. This proved to be a little limiting, but in my testing so far, it works fine. Update: October 30, 2018 I'm surprised - apparently yamajin had the idea for a bicycle dummy pedal a year and a half before I did. I should have come across this earlier, but I wanted to share it as another option. This design is a simple snap-together two-piece design, which is nice, and uses a larger axle that results in a stronger design. My design is intended to be compatible with the Park DP-2, making the 5/16" thread a potential weak spot. However, mine prints without any supports, which isn't a huge differentiator but something I generally try to accomplish. Yamajin's design is fully threaded, which can also be stronger but will take longer to thread into the crank arm. So you've got two options if you're looking to get a dummy pedal for bike maintenance!
