<table bgcolor=#ffCCCC WIDTH=100%> <tr> <th><h1 ALIGN=CENTER>WARNING</H1></th> </tr> <tr> <td>This design falls short of optimal standards and may break if printed. I'm leaving it here for historical reference, but strongly recommend exploring my new design: Redesign of Dummy Pedal.</Td> </table> I recently created a replacement head (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3107119) for the Park Tool DP-2 dummy pedal tool. The DP-2 serves as a substitute pedal on bikes without pedals installed, often found on high-end models to allow customers to choose their own pedals. Upon examining the rest of the tool, I thought it was feasible to replicate the entire thing using printed parts. Initially, I designed it around an M6 nut and 686 bearings, but realized it was overly complicated. To simplify matters, I decided to source hardware only when necessary, which led me to try replicating the entire tool with printed parts alone. To add a challenge, I made the new design compatible with my replacement head, limiting myself to the 5/16" 18tpi thread used by Park on the DP-2. This constraint proved to be slightly restrictive, but my testing so far has been successful. **Update: 30 Oct 2018** It appears that yamajin had the idea for a bicycle dummy pedal (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2128400) a year and a half before I did. I'm surprised I hadn't come across it earlier, but I wanted to share it as another option. This design features a simple snap-together two-piece structure, which is nice, and uses a larger axle for added strength. My design is intended to be compatible with the Park DP-2, making the 5/16" thread a potential weak spot. On the other hand, yamajin's design is fully threaded, which can also be stronger but requires more time to thread into the crank arm. So, you have two options if you're looking for a dummy pedal for bike maintenance!
