Cloghmore Kiln, Achill Island
sketchfab
In May 2018, staff and students from the Achill Archaeological Field School set out to record a partially surviving kiln that was slowly eroding out of the soft sandy shoreline at Cloghmore on Achill Island. This ancient structure, built with dry-stone vernacular techniques, is estimated to be an 18th or early 19th century relic, its age evident in its weathered state. Coastal erosion has ravaged most of it, leaving behind a fragile reminder of the island's rich history.
