prusaprinters

Adapter to fit ClodBuster wheels on a Kyosho Mad Crusher adding just enough offset to clear the steering knuckles.

The bolt holes are modeled to fit over the studs on the back of original Clod Buster wheels.

To drill the bolt holes, place the adapter in the wheel and drill 2.5mm or 3/32" holes through the wheel using the adapter as a guide.

Remove the adapter and enlarge the holes in the wheel to approximately 3mm. I found that a 1/8" bit can be used while keeping a thin tube form the original studs.

Mount the wheels to the rims using M3 bolts. 12mm is a good length to clear the chamfer and bite into the adapter.

Use M5x16 bolts with blue locktite or lock washers to mount the wheels on the axles. Use M5x18 if you are using thick washers like Nord-Lock.

Print Settings

Printer Brand: Prusa

Printer: I3 MK3S

Rafts: Doesn't Matter

Supports: No

Resolution: 0.2

Filament: Kodak PLA+
Notes:

I used PLA+, but any rigid filament should work as long as you have medium or high infill and use extra perimeters to ensure strong walls for the bolt and hex holes.

I used 35% infill with 6 perimeters.

How I Designed This

I designed this hub adapter by modifying the scad script "Customisable SLW Style Hub for RC Wheel" by jruutiai. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2201304
