clock pendulum shaft nut
thingiverse
I've always been skeptical about attaching a nut directly to a bare rod to adjust and secure the length of a clock pendulum bob. This setup makes it easy to make rough adjustments anywhere along the rod, but it's not ideal for fine-tuning the bob's location for optimal timing. The cross-sectional view clearly shows a significant gap between the female and male threads, which is exactly what I needed to ensure that the printed parts would assemble and move smoothly. My print nozzle has a 0.4mm diameter. The central hole in the design accommodates a shaft with a 5/32" diameter. It's easy to modify the part to fit different shaft diameters if needed. To make threading easier, the set screw holes extend slightly into the opposite surface, providing extra clearance for the tap end as it forms the threads.
