In the case of the wall clock "TinyDottie", intarsia is taken to an unprecedented extreme, with every minute represented by a minuscule dot. The dial itself was crafted from pine plywood, showcasing its beautiful wood grain in all its glory. Unlike Five-sided-Grill-Lantern, where sticky milling dust proved troublesome, the flat pockets of "TinyDottie" posed no such problem. Numbers and dots were cut from 1 mm thick smoked oak veneer with precision and care. Cutting these small parts required patience and attention to detail, as they often flew around while being processed by the machine. To prevent this, I had to sit beside it and hold them in place using a screwdriver. The insertion process was time-consuming but straightforward: a tiny drop of glue and gently placing the part into position. A solid walnut edge adds a nice contrast and depth to the clock, making it even more visually appealing. To make the most of the material, I divided the circle into four segments and nested the parts closely together. However, this made gluing them in place quite challenging with conventional clamps alone. The aluminum clock hands were upgraded by applying dark veneer using superglue. The build was carried out on a Stepcraft desktop CNC machine. For more intriguing clock designs, visit https://www.zenziwerken.de/en/Clocks
