Clock Face Number Ring
prusaprinters
A 405mm (16-inch) diameter number ring for a wall-mounted clock. Of course it can be rescaled to your taste. I'd advise scaling only in x and y, while leaving the height the same. Instructions This ring is designed to mount around a clock mechanism with ~180mm (7-inch) minute hand like this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IARYYNY?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00 The ring is divided in to six 60° sections so that it'll fit on an 8-inch bed. Each of the six sections is divided in to an 'A' and a 'B' part that are aligned with the 'B' on top of the 'A' with precisely the same x/y position. 'B' starts 3mm above the bed surface. This two-part design supports dual-color printing so that the numbers and markings can be printed in a contrasting color. Number color is determined by the 'B' part. I printed mine using a dual-extruder Printrbot Metal Plus. Dual color could also be achieved with a single extruder by pausing the print at the end of the 'A' part and swapping the filament. Alternatively you could print in a single color. The depth of the numbers will produce a nice minimalist effect, albeit with lower readability. The links are used to hold the ring together. After pushing them in place with the assembly on a flat surface (making sure you've got the ordering right), I used a 3Doodler 3D printing pen to weld everything together, as I find this to work better than glue for PLA. The layer height is pretty much irrelevant for this print (as it's 2.5 dimensional), so print with your maximum layer height for speed and strength. I was going to print mine in black with white numbering, for maximum contrast, but I ran out of black filament. If I re-print it later, I'll add another photo. Category: Decor
