Clip-on pots (with suction cup)

prusaprinters

Clip-on pots suitable for clipping over dividers such as glass dividers up to 6mm thick. The pot also includes a recess for an optional suction cup, for example if used in motorhomes (RVs) or caravans.

The pot is in two parts to allow for simple printing with a flat, watertight base and without the need for support of the clip 'handle'. This also means you can pick your own colour combinations even on a single-extruder printer.

For the clip part you can choose the plain or "latticed" version for something (slightly) more arty.

Total size: 121mm tall, 122mm diameter.

(N.B. for a shorter pot, simply tell your slicing program to stop at your required height on the bowl part - once you're at least 5mm clear of the recessed part).

Print Settings

Printer:

RepRapPro Ormerod 2

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

0.3mm

Infill:

20%

Post-Printing

This item is printed in two parts and, whilst it should be a nice tight fit, will need glue to hold it together properly. The clip part has a thin wall which should fit inside the bowl part.

First use a sharp knife and carefully trim flush any blobs of plastic left behind by the layer start point on both the clip side and the inside top of the bowl.

Next do a dry run to make sure the two parts fit nicely and to align the clip 'handle' with the recessed part where the suction cup can go. It may be worthwhile marking the position of the two parts with a pencil somewhere concealed (i.e. under the clip handle).

Take apart again and apply a thin layer of suitable glue to the outside of the thin wall on the bottom of the clip part. Now put back together, and carefully wipe away any excess glue. Place a flat, heavy book on top to hold everything in place while the glue dries.

If you want to add the suction cup, trim the clip parts off a plastic suction cup to leave a flush back and glue this centrally to the recessed area on the bowl. If the suction cups has a little tab to ease removal, align that to face down so you can easily get at it.

How I Designed This

Designed in OnShape.
