Clip on Face Shield
thingiverse
Human: Make a bold statement against airborne germs by wearing this simple yet effective face shield, easily attachable to any baseball-style cap. Cut the plastic part from a 2-liter soda bottle (I used root beer) into a 270mm x 150mm shape and slide it onto the frame. The clip that secures the hat has built-in supports; after printing, I cleaned them out with a needle file to give the inner surface a rough texture for better grip on the cap's brim. This print requires approximately 20 meters of filament and takes around 4 hours to complete. Recommended settings include: * 0.3mm layer height * 5 layers at the top and bottom * 10 perimeters, which essentially creates a flexible perimeter that maintains strength while accommodating different cap sizes I printed this shield with Transparent PETG, but any somewhat flexible filament will work. However, be cautious when using TPU as it may fail due to excessive movement in the Y carriage. This design is meant to be easy to make without specialized parts. That being said, I highly recommend face shield designs developed by Prusa, DTM, and 3cVerkstan if you have access to their materials and elastic. Disclaimer: Although I'm not a medical professional, it's essential to note that this shield has never been proven to provide protection against germs, bacteria, or viruses. Therefore, I've listed it under "fashion accessories." If you choose to wear it in public, please follow WHO and CDC guidelines during the Covid-19 crisis. I'm joining the #FaceCoveringChallenge by tagging my design with this hashtag.
