Although I found it unpleasant to gaze upwards into its bright radiance, I still yearned for the cozy ambiance that only down lighting could provide on my kitchen island - thus began my quest for a DIY shade that would clip neatly onto the 20-watt CF bulb of Ikea's ES0808g20 E26 model. Taking out my trusty measuring tape, I carefully gauged the diameter of this compact fluorescent lamp to be approximately 98mm. Just in case anyone is curious about acquiring this exact type of lighting, note that availability status remains unclear - a point worth keeping in mind while planning ahead.
