Clip for Thor Force Knee Pads
thingiverse
I scored these knee pads for rock-bottom prices at a second-hand gear shop because they were missing the tiny black plastic clips that secure two of the straps. I figured out I could probably 3D print them myself. This project isn't exactly a work of art, especially after accidentally melting one of the clips, but it gets my safety gear working and that's all that really matters to me. I carefully considered the grain direction during the printing process for this part, but it does require some extra steps afterwards. Once you've printed this piece, you'll need to heat up the base of the hook shape and twist it 90 degrees. I used a lighter and gently applied heat several times to loosen up the area before twisting it and cooling it down under cold water. It would have been a lot neater if I had access to a different source of heat. I also did some light trimming with a knife to smooth out a few rough edges. Post-printing steps: 1. Heat the base of the hook 2. Twist it 90 degrees 3. Cool down 4. Trim any rough edges with a knife
