She holds a book scroll across her lap, carefully reading its contents. She is Clio, the legendary Muse of History. In ancient Greek mythology, Clio ("maker of fame" or "to make famous"), also known as Kleio, was the muse of historical accounts and in some mythological tales, a skilled lyre player.
