As if mirroring representations found in the Vatican, she holds a book scroll securely on her lap from which she reads intently. Clio, the Muse of History, sits poised and serene, lost in the words that dance before her eyes. In Greek mythology, Clio ("made famous" or "to make famous") is a name synonymous with the muse of history, while some accounts also associate her with the lyre. Like all the muses, she is a daughter born to Zeus and the Titaness Mnemosyne, a union that imbues her with the power to inspire and create.
