Clinton vs Trump Chess Set

thingiverse

This is a unique chess set with all pieces featuring the head of Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, allowing you to engage in a heated "red" versus "blue" chess match in the comfort of your own home. Source files are available on github. UPDATE 10/13/2016: Clean STL's have been uploaded, making them cleaner and smaller. UPDATE 10/14/2016: The Trump pawn has been updated due to its design flaw that caused the head to break off easily. The new Trump pawn is designed without this issue. Printer Settings Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Custom Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .15mm Infill: 0% Notes: I use a .30mm nozzle, 0% infill, and 10-12 perimeters (using Simplify3D) when printing these pieces. This leaves a nice indentation in the bottom of each piece into which I place heavy material such as small fishing weights secured with glue or epoxy. The bottom is then finished off with a round piece of felt attached with double-sided sticky tape. I will post some pictures of the final product once I have taken them. How I Designed This I used OpenSCAD to generate everything in this project! The included 'chess-set-generator.scad' script was used to create this chess set. You can generate your own custom chess set with your own head by first getting a 3D model of your head that is around 30mm in diameter (or as close as possible). Next, change the script where it says "headfile="..." to point to your head STL file. Then select a part to generate by setting the 'part' variable to one of: king, queen, bishop, knight, rook, pawn, pawns, set or board. The script is ready for use in the customizer but since you cannot upload STL's it is of limited usefulness there.
