An inclinometer or clinometer is an instrument used for measuring angles of slope (or tilt), elevation, or depression of an object with respect to gravity's direction. It is also known as a tilt indicator, tilt sensor, tilt meter, slope alert, slope gauge, gradient meter, gradiometer, level gauge, level meter, declinometer, and pitch & roll indicator. Clinometers measure both inclines (positive slopes, as seen by an observer looking upwards) and declines (negative slopes, as seen by an observer looking downward). Measuring height: 1. Pick a nearby object that you wish to measure the height and stand a certain distance from that object.2. Look through the clinometer so that the top of the object that you wish to measure the height of is in thecenter of the view piece. 3. Record the angle that the arm of the clinometer indicates. If you’re having a problemreading the angle, hold the arm against the label once it stops moving.4. Measure the distance between yourself and the object.5. Determine the height of the object above the level of the clinometer, use thefollowing equation: Height = Distance between person and object (d) x tan(angle A) Dimension 110 mm x 113 mm x 40mm
