01.02.2018: v2.0 Complete redesign and a new name... Removed old files, added new stl (100x100x50mm) and of course the OpenSCAD File. Customizer in thingiverse is not working (about 2 months now) (you will see this error: /usr/local/bin/openscad/openscad: error while loading shared libraries: libCGAL.so.10: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory) So you have to use the OpenSCAD file if you want to resize the box. I hope Thingiverse will patch this error soon (see the comments in this forum). Pictures will follow. Explanations will be updated as soon as possible (no promise). 04.12.2017: v2.0 coming soon. I reduced the number of elements and redesigned the way they are connected. So only 1 type of shelf, 1 vertical connector and 1 type of key to connect them all. Much easier to print (I still prefer stl that don't need supports) and more stable. Right now starting to print the shelves in black PETG. The drawers will bring the colors. Until saturday/sunday I will update this thread with new photos and of course the new OpenSCAD-File and Customizer. A plug'n play box. Build your using a few elements like corners, edges, plugs etc. Easily extend or redesign it whenever you want. Use it for drawers or as a shelf or a mix of both. Use the Customizer App for generating the necessary stl files (default is "Set" to generate one set of elements for one layer). Or customize yourself with the attached OpenSCAD-File if you prefer it this way (I do). The drawers are printed in one piece so that the walls can be very thin - plugging them would result in "ugly" big walls. I use a borosilicate glass, so the bottom of the prints is very smooth. The horizontal plugs are printed upside-down. So in the end the drawers will slide without significant friction on the ledges of the horizontal plugs. All parts can be printed without supports. This is work in progress. Right now I'm printing new drawers with rounded front corners. I will update files and photos as soon as possible. 28.12.2016: Back from holiday Regenerated all stl-files (names according to scad-file) Added a new element (addon for vertical plug when used in combined shelves) 29.11.2016: Fixes (calculation of sockets, top lid) 27.11.2016: Updated OpenSCAD-File Usable in Customizer app Now with correct length and width of plugs based on values for drawer length/width Print Settings Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Wanhao Duplicator I3 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 Infill: Up To You Notes: PETG filament (extruder), Colors: black, white, transparent Bed 80 °C Hotend 245 °C (Micro Swiss Full Metal Hotend) Print speed 60 mm/s Used Tools: OpenSCAD, Simplify3d, OctoPrint on RPI3, Wanhao Duplicator I3 in Lack enclosure How I Designed This Customizable Plug'n Play Box with OpenSCAD The most important parameters can easily be changed in the attached OpenSCAD-file. Length, width, thickness of the drawers Thickness of the plugs and sockets With "adjustment" you can influence the stickyness of the elements - you should test with 2 elements for your chosen filament
