In this updated version of the "Keep It Simple Drawer" proposal, modifications have been made to the model's STEP files and accompanying pictures and animations. The slide lid locking mechanism has been improved with a more robust design (pics: u1, u2, u3, u4, u5, u6, u12, ur2; animations: mov4.gif, mov5.gif). Additionally, the drawer locking mechanism now features a cheaper and simpler design (pics: u13, u14, u15). Both general modifications maintain the same concept. The new slide lid locking mechanism also serves as a stopper for the two springs at the back pushing the drawer out. The drawer should smoothly halt at the outermost position of the lid (mov1.gif). Custom components include a DC24V Actuator Solenoid (0.7A, 10mm) priced at $6 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/DC24V-100g-Force-10mm-Actuator-Plunger-Return-Pull-Solenoid-Electromagnet-/191363249782?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2c8e237676) and a Sierra Paciffic BH5020 spring hinge, along with 9.5mm diameter rollers.
