Clémence Isaure is a legendary medieval figure credited with founding or restoring the Academy of the Floral Games. She supposedly left behind a legacy that funds annual awards in gold and silver flowers to honor the best poets. As the mythic founder of the games, she's celebrated mainly in Toulouse, where poems, sculptures, and paintings have been dedicated to her name. Various places and institutions bear her name as well. To provide her with a realistic background, she has been identified as a member of the Yzalguier family from Toulouse. In 1806, the street named rue des Yzalguier in Toulouse was renamed rue Clémence-Isaure. A tower at 7 de la rue Cujas was also named Tour Clémence Isaure. Unfortunately, this tower was demolished in 1817. For example, Charles Cros wrote in 1888: "Toulouse! ancient city where poets' golden flowers still flourish." He dedicated these words to Clémence Isaure. This sculpture is part of the Scan The World initiative. Scan The World is a non-profit project launched by MyMiniFactory that creates a digital archive of fully printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the world for everyone to access freely.
