Cleat Pedals - Clip into Shimano Road Bike Pedals
thingiverse
Cyclists everywhere benefit from using special pedals and matching cleats attached to their shoes, which provide superior energy transfer. These cleats, located at the bottom of cycling shoes, securely lock into specialized pedals. However, this means riders must wear their cycling shoes with cleats fitted whenever they ride a bike (They can still ride without the shoes and cleats, but the small pedal is uncomfortable and far from ideal for riding). The Cleat Pedal system was designed to be used with Shimano pedals instead of having to wear cycling shoes equipped with cleats for short rides. Shimano cleats are a popular choice among cyclists worldwide. This simple clip-in pedal set provides a straightforward solution for riders who want to use special pedals with cleats for longer rides but also desire the flexibility to go on casual or fun rides without wearing their cycling shoes with cleats. The Cleat Pedals feature clear, defined prints when files are precisely sliced and printed on an accurately set up machine. Due to intended use, additional shells and high infill are recommended for strength and durability. Automated support is not required as the necessary support has been designed into the print. It should snap away easily and cleanly if well printed (refer to images). Once printed and support removed, your Cleat Pedals are ready for use... just clip them into your Shimano pedals as pedal 'flats' so you can ride away in whatever footwear you choose. They won't provide the same energy transfer benefits as the pedals and cycling shoes with cleats locked together but work well as a simple alternative. Please note that, if your foot comes off a pedal during use, it may swing backwards because there is more weight at the back of the Shimano pedal (but this doesn't affect their function or use... just something to be aware of). The Cleat Pedal surface has been designed to provide maximum grip but are still hard plastic pedals. They work well but if you need greater grip, rubber or other material could be added into the Cleat Pedal channels or by applying a full surface layer (e.g. glue on a rubber pad cut to shape). Not necessary but this may benefit some users. Feedback from people using the Cleat Pedal has been very positive. They find them convenient as they avoid the need to put their cycling shoes with cleats on for short city rides, etc. Please refer to the print settings and images provided for additional information and post images of your Cleat Pedals in use for other members to see.
