Rope Cleat: One-Handed Tie-Off Solution for Heavy Lifting When pulling heavy objects like bicycles to the ceiling, you need a reliable way to secure the rope while keeping your hands free. The Rope Cleat is designed specifically for this purpose, allowing you to tie off the rope with one hand. I installed my Rope Cleat on the side of a 2x8 joist under the garage roof's peak, right in the middle where the pulley is located. This position makes it nearly inaccessible when tying off a rope, but that's exactly what I wanted - out of the way and secure. The cam part features a small bump with a hole, perfect for attaching a rubber band or spring. This clever design helps the cam grip the rope more effectively. To assemble this clever device, you'll need just three components: two screws and a rubber band or spring. Simple, yet effective. While I haven't had a chance to test it extensively, I'm confident that scaling down the Rope Cleat will make it even more suitable for smaller ropes. Its versatility and ease of use make it an excellent addition to any rope-based lifting operation.
