Clear Point wave ripples

These powerful wave ripples emerge just north of Pebbly Beach on the south coast of New South Wales near the base of the Snapper Point Formation at Clear Point. They tell a story of intense storm events that took place on a shallow marine shelf in the southern Sydney Basin during the early Permian era. Located about a meter above a layer teeming with hundreds of Eurydesma hobartense fossils, these ripples also bear witness to wave activity and dropstones from an earlier period of glaciation.
