Clear Dust Shoe for MPCNC Primo by Steve M. Potter
thingiverse
This dust collection system for the Mostly Printed CNC Primo model was inspired by the one designed by I Simply Built It in Switzerland. Like his, it does not follow the spindle up and down, but is set to a height just above the workpiece. His was for the Burly MPCNC model and he did not provide files for printing. Mine uses the clear cap of a spray acrylic finish can which allows you to watch the cutter while it is cutting. This is glued onto the 3D printed curved tubes with hot glue (other glues do not stick well to this type of plastic). I include an image to be printed at 1:1 scale to be used as a glueing guide for the lower curved tubes. I cut the holes in the side of the cap with a Dremel. I made the round hole in the top by heating a 5euro cent coin with a soldering iron until it melted through. The 3D printed parts are made from clear PETG (Devil Design) from a 0.6mm nozzle with 0.3mm layers and 100% infill. They are glued together with CA glue. The vertical pipes are 1.4mm thick, 25mm OD aluminum tubing. For my Z assembly, I cut them to 42cm to clear the Z stepper when fully lowered. The vacuum adapter is for a shopvac with a 34 to 35mm tapered nozzle, hose suspended from the rafters with a shock cord.
