Clayr Pendant
thingiverse
Create a pendant inspired by the Clayr's sigil from Garth Nix's Abhorsen series. Originally, this design was made for a friend who will receive a metal-cast version. The latest revision (v2.2) allows for easier pouring of molten metal with an additional mold piece, the funnel. To print the pendant, use the Pendant.stl file which requires support but the PendantHalf.stl file doesn't need any support material and can be glued together for a whole pendant. For casting, follow these steps: assemble the mold parts (sides 1&2 with optional funnel piece), heat your metal (like low-melting bismuth alloy at 135°C), pour it into the hole using the funnel, remove the mold halves, chip excess plastic, and drill a chain hole. The metal used here melts at 138°C and can be heated using common household items; however, it's more expensive than Field's metal which melts at 62°C but boils at 100°C and is costlier. Remember the round mold has a nub for proper alignment of mold halves during assembly.
