BLMJ 00174 In the Isin-Larsa period, circa 2000-1750 BCE, this artifact was created in Southern Mesopotamia or Elam. The head features a hollow channel inside, suggesting it was mounted on a stick or temporary stand, and originally showcased vibrant red hues through painted decoration. It likely occupied a spot within a tomb or house, as indicated by the discovery of comparable terra-cotta heads in dwellings and vaulted brick tombs in Susa, the capital city of Elam.
