The mysterious churn was unearthed from an abandoned house within the Chernobyl resettlement zone. Today, this remarkable artifact is carefully preserved at the Belarusian State Museum of Folk Architecture and Rural Lifestyle. A unique braiding technique involving ceramics infused with birch bark was a common practice in various parts of Belarus. If cracks appeared on furnace crockery, skilled artisans would skillfully braid them to prevent further damage from occurring.
