Clay 3d Printer Extruder - Lower Auger Assembly
thingiverse
This is an experimental funnel, auger core, nozzle, and tube seal designed as an alternative to some components of the CERA-1 clay extruder by Bryan Cera. You will need most of the components of Bryan's extruder. The main structural difference in this design is that the nozzle sits at a 15 degree angle to the polycarbonate tube. The intended changes are to: 1) reduce the amount of pressure needed for the plunger to convey clay to the auger. 2) improve lower seal on polycarbonate tube 3) create an auger core assembly that can be swapped out without any tools - allows redesign of auger core to experiment with different auger types or to achieve varying scales of precision. 4) 3d printable nozzle design that can be easily swapped (I'm printing nozzles on a UV resin printer for higher precision). The nozzle and auger assembly are angled 15 degrees off of the polycarbonate tube - which does complicate mounting to some machines. I have included a cleat and clamp design that will mount to a Shapeoko I style X carriage. I'm working toward a gantry system that moves the Z axis off the gantry and instead moves the build plate.
