Clay 2 PLA Project - Clay Cup
thingiverse
In a middle school project, students crafted objects from clay while considering tolerances and 3D printer constraints. Post-creation, the items were scanned with Makerbot Digitizer for mass production on Makerbot Replicator 2. As an illustration, a white clay cup was made, glazed with edible colors, and digitized using two scans. To enhance the printability, TinkerCad was used to hollow out the cup and flatten its base. During printing at 2mm layer height with supports, there was no compromise on food safety, as Makerbot PLA is FDA-approved. Although intended for crayons, the clay cup could technically hold drinks.
