I print Nylon on the cr10 a lot, and need a decent amount of compression force on the extruder gear to get the nylon to grip and push nicely through the bowden tube. Unfortunately the stock extruder arm is in single shear and the moment produced by increasing the spring force (or using a fastener to push the arm) caused the arm to crack and made the bearing sit at an angle, causing the extruder gear to not grip the filament anymore.I figured I'd just add a little tab and use a longer M4 screw to hold the bearing in double shear, hopefully removing this issue.This has worked and does increase the robustness of the compression arm. I moved away from the Bowden tube and upgraded to a direct drive though, I think it's better imo.Parameters:I'm printing with a raft, 100% infill, with support, 0.2mm layer height, PLA.
