Classic Weighted Tape Dispenser

Classic Weighted Tape Dispenser

prusaprinters

The classic tape dispenser for use with rolls of scotch tape or equivalent, but designed for 3D printing!  Thanks to some interesting internal chamfers, this can be simply printed-in-place.   In addition, the tape core included here uses a novel two-piece threaded approach, so that it can be easily printed without requiring any supports. The fully hollow design allows you to pack it tight with sand after printing to give it a nice heft (sealing it up with the provided threaded plug), and optional adhesive rubber pads could be attached to the bottom to also help it stay in place when used.Instead of designing a plastic serrated edge directly onto the body itself, an angled .8 mm slot is provided so that you can slide in some better option.  I've included the STL for a simple printable plastic blade that works ok (especially if printed at small layer heights), but I'd recommend instead taking a small piece of the metal edge from your used cling wrap or aluminum foil box (see picture below).  A piece of an old hacksaw blade would also work well.  You'll want it to end up around 24 mm wide and 10 mm deep.In addition to the STLs (which have all been oriented as they should be on the print bed), I'm also attaching the 3MF and gcode files I used to print the one shown in the pictures on my Prusa Mini.Assembly pictures:
