Claptrap from Borderlands, there's a few 3D printable Claptrap models about but I wanted to make my own version.. The arms and shoulders can be set in different positions as can the hands/grabbers. I've added as much detail as possible whilst trying to keep the model easy to print. I added lights to my finished model behind the eye and lower panel, the model is thin here to allow light through if you print in white or translucent plastic. Print Settings Printer Brand: Prusa Printer: i3 MK3 Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.15 Infill: 15 Filament: Prusa PLA White Notes: I would recommend splitting some of the parts in your slicer program then gluing the parts together after as this will make them easier to print and better quality. I suggest spiltting the following parts into two halves: Upper arm, lower arm and wheel Post-Printing ============= Post printing i first glued together any parts which were split for easier printing, after this the model was sanded quite extensively to get the finish as smooth as possible. A primer was then used to fill any small gaps and the primer lightly sanded, after this the model was painted by hand using many thin layers of acrylic paint and finally assembled. Using an airbrush would be much quicker option if you have one avalible.. I also added LED lights to my finished model, the sections behind the eye and front panel are thin enough to allow light through if white or translucent plastic is used to print. Before priming or painting the printed parts first check the fit of the parts (especially the arms and file out any parts that need it. If the arm joints are left quite tight its possible articulate the model and have it hold its pose without glue. Category: Video Games
