Clamping Jug Lid

Clamping Jug Lid

This is a DIY clamping lid project designed specifically for use with gallon-size juice jugs to create a mid-scale carbonator. I was in need of something larger than a 12 oz bottle but smaller than my keg, and my home-brew carbonation solution had been found wanting until then. My coworker graciously gifted me free juice jugs, minus lids, which really took things to the next level for me. To keep things at the right temperature, I simply store them in the basement at room temperature, and then move one of the jugs into the fridge whenever company comes over for a visit. In case it was not clear: a metal screw on lid with a gasket would indeed be a better option all-around than what is being presented here. However, after thoroughly researching this, I simply could not find either online or in local brew supply shops the specific size that would meet my requirements, so it's all about finding alternatives at this point. Another key factor was the relatively large mouth on the jugs themselves - larger even than what you'd typically see with a 1/2 gallon growler. I truly appreciate the time taken by folks like yourselves in looking over this material!
