Clamping Jig for Whitewings 503
thingiverse
Today I stumbled upon a stash of my old Whitewings planes in a box, and within minutes, my toddler and I were having a blast playing with them, but unfortunately, they ended up pretty badly bent out of shape. In the past when I needed to fix a plane, I used to come up with creative ways to clamp everything using blocks of wood, but now that I have access to a 3D printer, I decided it was time to try designing a custom clamping jig. This is my initial version - basically just a set of angle clamping blocks that can be used in conjunction with inexpensive spring clamps. They're currently printing out. Depending on how these work out, I might revise the design to incorporate integrated clamping as well as alignment parts. I've got some ideas brewing.
