Clamping Filament Dust Box

Clamping Filament Dust Box

This nifty little box boasts a clever clamp! It's designed to be filled with snippets of sponge and clamped onto the filament spool, effectively cleaning the filament as it makes its way to the extruder! Both sides are printed in an open position, interlocking seamlessly during printing. They should fold freely when finished, thanks to a small clamp that locks the closed position into place. This one-print solution has worked flawlessly for me (after a dozen attempts and modifications!), leaving me thoroughly satisfied with how well it locks and fits together! I use it as a removable dust collector, so whenever I forget to put it on, I can simply add it after loading the filament. Just pop in a cut sponge on either side, and you're good to go! Printing is a breeze: I used five skirt lines and standard PLA settings, but since I'm feeling adventurous, I printed it at 0.12mm (120um) layer height - although this shouldn't be necessary! Anything around or below 0.2mm should do the trick. If you want to try it with your perfectly tuned machine on a CR10(S), feel free to use the attached gcode (just make sure to slice it yourself, since it's at 0.12mm layer height).
