Clamp to hold Celestron Evolution HC cradle
thingiverse
This is a variation of my existing design 'Nexstar Evolution Side bracket for Hand Controller', that utilizes the excellent cradle designed by James Dedij in his design "Bouclier HUB USB3 / Power pour NexStar Evolution 6 / 8 / 9". Specifically, I'm using the file "support_handcontroller_sur_bouclier.STL" (not attached as it's not mine). This design is extremely elaborate, but was a blast to create. Links are provided here because Thingiverse is really messing up inline links: [Nexstar Evolution Side bracket for Hand Controller](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3242670) [James Dedij](https://www.thingiverse.com/jamesdedij) [Bouclier HUB USB3 / Power pour NexStar Evolution 6 / 8 / 9](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4201239) I'm currently working on printing the wrap around mount he designed, but for now, I've just printed his HC cradle and modified my simple design to use it. This attaches to the side as shown and allows you to rotate the hand controller 180 degrees on the swivel. See the printing instructions below, as I used Mirror Mesh on the X axis for the "support_handcontroller_sur_bouclier.STL". To complete this project, you'll need: Two 3 inch 1/4 inch bolt 20 thread One 4 inch 1/4 inch bolt 20 thread One wing nut 20 thread One acorn nut 20 thread Two nylon lock nut 20 thread One washer To attach his cradle to this, you'll need: One M5x100mm Machine Screws Pan Phillips Cross Head Screw (I had some from another project) One M5 x 0.8mm Nylon Inserted Hex Lock Nut Assemble the following parts: The first three inch bolt holds the two parts together, use the lock nut and trim to size. The second three inch bolt holds the adapter to the main body, use the lock nut and trim to size. The four inch bolt clamps it together. Find the right length fully open with the wing nut and washer, cut it to size and use the acorn nut with a little thread lock. The acorn nut will prevent you from losing the wing nut (ever looked for a wing nut in the dark? It's not fun...). Use the M5x100mm and the M5 Nut to attach the HC cradle to my adapter (trim to size). Again, check out [James Dedij](https://www.thingiverse.com/jamesdedij) designs as they are really good.
