Clamp Tite style tool
thingiverse
I've seen numerous DIY alternatives to the Clamp Tite on YouTube, some better than others, and I finally needed a clamp in a pinch but didn't have one handy. I downloaded rkevinball_5591's design and it was good, but I wanted mine a bit beefier with simple prints instead of lots of curves and overhangs. I re-drew the lower section and used a nob from a previous print. There are many nobs on this thing. I built mine around a 1/4"-20 bolt, which needs to be between 2.5-4" long; adjust the drawing as needed if you have a longer or shorter bolt. Having threads all the way to the top would be better, but they're not common in this size at local hardware stores, so mine isn't fully threaded. You can also use a wrench or impact on it. The nut is recessed in plastic drawbar; I wanted a steel connection instead of threaded plastic since I've had mixed results with it. I also added a washer between the top and nut but it wasn't necessary. To insert the drawbar, I printed it first then paused the tube print and inserted it into the machine with the hex hole up. Using it is easy; there are many Clamp Tite-style tool videos on YouTube. I included SolidWorks files too - not pretty, just quick and dirty. If you've read this far, congratulations! You're probably the first one. Hit like.
